A series of pencil drawings dedicated to my hometown, Minsk.
I started this series with the idea of drawing from memory. I chose places in Minsk that are meaningful to me. At first, I made a few sketches from photos, then I let go of references and relied only on what remained in my mind.
Our memory isn’t perfect. Details fade, change, overlap. I wasn’t trying to recreate exact locations. I wanted to draw them the way they live in my head.
This series of works was resulted in a solo exhibition Minsk in My Head in Marks (Minsk, Belarus, 2023).
